1900’s Silver 18” Graduated Chunky Albert Chain & Twin Dog Clips

My passion for precious metals and my journey as a silversmith along with my love of history has allowed me to curate a special collection of Antique and Vintage finds that I cannot wait to share. 
I have a particular affection for Victorian Silver but some pieces extend into Edwardian and early 20th century. 
This particular piece is a sympathetic marriage between a chunky single Albert chain with the addition of two modern dog clips to form a lovely contemporary unisex necklace. 
The chunky solid silver chain is 18” in length and is a graduated width which is a 10.07mm at the widest. Whilst the links are stamped with the lion passant most are worn or illegible and that includes the assay hallmark and year stamp. The addition of modern twin dog clips means this chain can be worn in a conventional way with the clasps at the back and the largest links at the front or with the clasps to one side of the other, or they can be worn at the front hooked onto a pendant, sentimental ring, or decorative brooch that would otherwise look out of place on a chain this chunky and making a very contemporary looking piece. Total weight is roughly 45.1g
Whilst this is a vintage pre loved piece and does have age related characteristics these only add to the charm of it. It has been polished and all damaged or loose links have been repaired or replaced to ensure the piece can be worn without worrying that it will become detached or lost.
