1902 Antique Silver Ornate Shell Pattern & Aqua Frosted Seaglass Necklace 18”

1902 Antique Silver Ornate Shell Pattern & Aqua Frosted Seaglass Necklace 18”

£105.00Price

There is something very special about creating heirloom jewellery and recycling at the same time. The silver on this necklace was rescued from a broken knife handle dating back to 1902 and is called the ornate shell pattern. Combining that with seaglass thats of a similar age picked from the shores of the Durham coastline and you have a piece that’s simply unique. Differing historical artefacts from the same era being brought together with a nod to the shell motif that also lends itself to resembling crashing waves and to the sea itself with the inclusion of seaglass.

I’ve used a lovely big piece of aqua coloured frosted glass in this pendant which is roughly 44.3mm long & 15.3mm wide, weighing 14.7g. Each piece of seaglass is one of a kind, different shapes, sizes, textures and colours, tumbled around in the sea for years and years to give it its amazing worn surface.

I’ve added a complimentary chain which is 18” long so the piece can be worn straight from its box.

Due to the recycled nature of this piece I have had to strengthen the silver by using an industrial epoxy which has also secured the glass in place preserving the piece for years to come. Please be mindful that all my jewellery is handmade by me and not mass produced so each piece is completely unique and has all the characteristics of something made by hand and made in the Uk with care and attention. Always made from solid silver never plated.
