Birmingham 1897 Silver 22” Graduated Albert Chain, Twin Dog Clip & Curb Extender

My passion for precious metals and my journey as a silversmith along with my love of history has allowed me to curate a special collection of Antique and Vintage finds that I cannot wait to share. 
I have a particular affection for Victorian Silver but some pieces extend into Edwardian and early 20th century. 
This particular piece is a sympathetic marriage between a slim Albert chain with a large T Bar and a modern but complimentary curb chain extender to make it long enough to wear as a necklace. 
The chain is 22” long in total. The chain comes in two parts which connect together with dog clips. The vintage section of chain is 11.5” long and is less chunky than some others of the era. It’s a graduated width which is 5.1mm at the widest, each link is stamped with the lion passant and  comes complete with its Albert clasp and a large Tbar which is hallmarked Birmingham 1897. The makers mark is illegible. The Tbar is 38mm long. The modern curb link extender is 10.5mm long including the added Albert clasp and is 5.1mm wide. The chain has a total weight of roughly 45.8g
Whilst this is a vintage pre loved piece and does have age related characteristics these only add to the charm of it. It has been polished and all damaged or loose links have been repaired or replaced to ensure the piece can be worn without worrying that it will become detached or lost.
