Birmingham 1899 Silver 16” Graduated Chunky Albert Chain, Tbar & Twin Dog Clips

My passion for precious metals and my journey as a silversmith along with my love of history has allowed me to curate a special collection of Antique and Vintage finds that I cannot wait to share. 
I have a particular affection for Victorian Silver but some pieces extend into Edwardian and early 20th century. 
This particular piece is a sympathetic marriage between a chunky single Albert chain with its original T Bar and the addition of two new dog clips to form a lovely contemporary necklace. 
The chunky chain is 16” in length and is a graduated width which is a 7.6mm at the widest and comes complete with its T bar which is 37.46mm long, Hallmarked Birmingham 1899. Makers mark HB. Each link is also stamped with the lion passant albeit most are worn and illegible. The addition of twin dog clips connects the main chain to what would have been the fob drop to form the necklace with the clasps connecting just at the side in a nice contemporary way. Total weight is roughly 44.1g
Whilst this is a vintage pre loved piece and does have age related characteristics these only add to the charm of it. It has been polished and all damaged or loose links have been repaired or replaced to ensure the piece can be worn without worrying that it will become detached or lost.
