Birmingham 1899 Silver 21” Graduated Chunky Albert Chain, 1915 Ivy Pattern Vesta
My passion for precious metals and my journey as a silversmith along with my love of history has allowed me to curate a special collection of Antique and Vintage finds that I cannot wait to share.
I have a particular affection for Victorian Silver but some pieces extend into Edwardian and early 20th century.
This particular piece is a sympathetic marriage between a chunky double Albert and a delightful ivy leaf pattern vesta. Perfect for holding sentimental treasures whilst on your travels. The Ivy leaf obviously symbolises fidelity, everlasting love, eternity, and resilience due to its evergreen nature as well as adaptability and survival.
The chain is 21” in length and is a graduated width which is 6.7mm at the widest and comes complete with the original swivel dog clasp. Hallmarked Birmingham 1899. Makers mark HB&S. Each link is also stamped with the lion passant. The vesta is attached to the central point of the chain. It has a blank shield cartouche on the front and the lid opens and closes with a nice strong crisp click. It’s 44.25mm x 33mm x 11.8mm and hallmarked Birmingham 1915. Makers mark M&L. Collectively they weigh roughly 70g
Whilst this is a vintage pre loved piece and does have age related characteristics these only add to the charm of it. It has been polished and all damaged or loose links have been repaired or replaced to ensure the piece can be worn without worrying that it will become detached or lost.
All my jewellery is sent to you in my signature gift box.
